Recent events and things concerning ME!!!!!

It's nice to be back -

I'm thinking about posting something pseudo-political/revolutionary, and of course, breathtakingly brilliant.  Something in regard to the recent work of American social activist Nick Symmonds and avaunt-garde screen printer Anthony Famiglietti.  Meh, maybe next time.  This is something I should really not botch.

-of course, this is merely a blog, and I cannot be bothered to spend more than half an hour on a post.  I have important tasks at hand, such as selling shoes and shoe accessories as well as running for long periods of time.

Referring to the second of those listed tasks, I ran a race last weekend:

new self-haircut.  Still unfortunate.
I did a 5 miler in Duluth last Friday night.  It was really hot and really windy, and there are probably other good excuses, but I ran damn slow, and still won.  Winning IS everything.  Coach wasn't really pumped about me running a race, and told me I needed to go run 5 more miles at tempo pace afterward.  This was nearly impossible, but I tried.  I went on effort, and didn't check pace.  Sometimes you need to insulate yourself against reality.  I tried to be sneaky about it too, because I didn't want to be the douche that says "Oh, nice race, now I've got to go do my workout."  All in all it was a nice trip up to Duluth and an escape from the hard-knock life here in Whittier (represent *hand signs*).

Back to training - I've done my first couple of long runs and a few half-assed workouts in preparation for fall marathoning.  Most likely it'll be Twin Cities, but it would be nice to get a yes or no on elite stuff from a couple others.  I'm looking at you, Toronto.  But, really, I love racing in Canada, hit me up.

It's been hot and unpleasant, but apparently it's summer, so I should really just suck it up and sweat it out.  My next big task is to wander the outskirts of the Twin Cities to find training grounds that meet the following criteria:

- gravel road
- nearest the cities
- mix of flat/hills
- won't get dragged behind a pickup by hillbillies

I'm not asking for much, just some solitude and a place to imitate Ryan Hall for a few hours a week.

Until next time-
