The run cam is back in action with some slaps against the dashboard and some electrical tape. I'm in the early throes of tapering for the race which is less than three weeks away now. I've never done well tapering, so I probably won't really do it the recommended way. I'll just force myself under 100 miles a week starting next week. I've had several good workouts recently and have been feeling pretty fit going into the race, so I'm getting pumped.
Today out on the trails it was about 55 degrees early in the morning, warming up to around 70 by the time I finished. Good singlet running weather. Also, I've been encountering a few more of these guys:

that's a pileated woodpecker and they are freaking crazy looking when they are flying around. I've also seen lots of Red-Bellied woodpeckers, but the pilies are much more noticeable. They're about the size of a crow, and when they start hammering a tree it sounds like a jackhammer. I've also noticed a few little snakes starting to wake up and sun themselves on the paved spots, so that will get exciting soon too.
