In the city
I spent the last few days with my track team, the St. David's Warriors - at their state meet in Charlotte. I was really inspired. Several of their performances really reminded me why I love this sport. I was busy getting sunburned and rained on (almost simultaneously) so I didn't have the chance for a nice adventurous run. I did get a 21 miler in yesterday, but I just ran around town. I started up north through the Oberlin Village area and up towards Glenwood and then finally onto the Greenway near the beltline. I took the greenway all the way back down to Milburnie street and then took that all the way past St. Augustine's college and Oakwood to downtown. The area near Oakwood is probably classified in the "bad" part of town, which is really a shame. There are some beautiful old buildings there and lots of big 'ol oak trees. I did a lap around the grass in Halifax square and then got back on the other greenway (I can't remember the names) to head back home. I encountered a full-out grove of ripe mulberry trees and stuffed my gut with some of those. My hips and groin were pretty tight and sore, so I need to work on loosening that mess up. I also got a few more pairs of the wonderful Brooks Axiom 3 in the mail. I should be good to go for a while now. A big thanks to Brooks for the free gear!
